Milbank House Movers
Milbank House Movers, Inc. began in 1964, when James H Wendland returned to Milbank following military duty in the US Army in Ft Leonard Wood, MO. Jim returned to Milbank to seek extra income to expand his dairy operation. He was offered a job by Earl Nielsen, who had been in the house moving business in Milbank since 1942. The following February, Jim bought Mr. Nielsen’s equipment and renamed the business Milbank House Movers.
Joshua L Wendland, currently the President of Milbank House Movers, Inc., is a second-generation structural mover. After graduating college at Moorhead State University in the spring of 1997, Josh began working fulltime in the family business. Jim is now the Vice President, and his wife Sheri, is the Secretary/Treasurer.
In 2004, Josh and Jim purchased a concrete and construction business from Karels Construction and incorporated MHM Contracting, LTD. The company performs concrete and building services for both residential and commercial construction projects. This allowed them to incorporate the raising up of existing homes and replacing the foundations, which go hand in hand.
Josh is currently the President of the IASM (International Association of Structural Movers). The IASM is a non-profit organization that began in 1983 when several structural movers formed the organization to represent their industry. It is comprised of more than 385 members worldwide. Annually, a conference is held where they get together to provide educational opportunities for members and employees and share ideas from other movers. They have an awards ceremony, social events, and visits to member yards.
Milbank House Movers, Inc. has been blessed with talented employees who are committed to advancing their career’s with MHM and feel pride in their work and the image of our company. Our employees are our greatest assets. We make every opportunity to empower our employees in their work responsibilities and to improve their skills by being actively involved in the company.
Most recently we are actively involved in promoting “Relocation vs. Demolition”. In a time when citizens around the world are hurting for many reasons, the time to re-use and recycle as opposed to demolish and destroy must be promoted. We are advertising homes “for sale” or “to give away” (to be moved), on our website. It gives people an opportunity to make use of something that they may otherwise have destroyed. We are taking the “greener” approach.
