Professional Family Business Study Group
Have you ever found yourself perplexed when your client refuses to finalize a document he's requested? Have you wondered why what seems to be a simple business decision isn't getting made and put into practice? You've just spent most of the afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Jones regarding the future of the business they created and grew successfully. You're wondering if your honesty regarding the ability of the next generation to keep the dream alive will cause your clients to leave your practice and find advice elsewhere.
Sound familiar? The Prairie Family Business Association, which serves family-owned businesses and professionals throughout the region, hosts multidisciplinary Family Business Study Groups in Sioux Falls, Rapid City and Fargo. Understanding the many dimensions and dynamics of advice, consultations and education for family owned business clients is critical for professionals wanting to distinguish themselves in the Family Business arena.
The complexities of the family business system require integration of insights from a variety of professional services; including legal, financial, management and from those in behavior science.
The study group meets four times a year. Each group determines the best schedule for those participating. Members of a study group consist of professional members of the Family Business Association. Guests are encouraged to attend to evaluate the effectiveness of such a group as it applies to their situation. Study groups identify and integrate existing and emerging knowledge about family business though case studies and current research. As a multidisciplinary group, they seek to expand their understanding of the various professions that serve family businesses.
