Awards and Legacy Tours
The Prairie Family Business Association desires to recognize exemplary family business with our annual “Excellence in Family Business” Awards.
Family Businesses Award recipients selected exemplify the following qualities:
- Family Business makes valuable contributions to the community through leadership roles, volunteer service, and/or financial support.
- Family Business demonstrates pride in the family business and demonstrates genuine caring for the personal well-being of employees, recognizing their contribution to the success of the business.
- Family Business is known for its integrity, and is recognized for honesty in business relationships with employees and customers, in advertising and providing an honest value to all in the community.
- Family Business demonstrates proven success and growth of the family business since its founding.
There are three award levels that are presented each year:
Local Awards
- Chamber: Approximately 20 local Chambers and their surrounding areas (see chart below) participate in the Prairie Family Business Excellence in Family Business Award. The Award is presented at the Chamber’s annual event.
- Legacy & Tour Awards: These are also local awards but are sponsored by individual families and have slightly different criteria for winning. These events have a special tour and award program presented by the Prairie Family Businesses Association. --Legacy Tours tell the stories behind the families and businesses that are built to last. From lucky breaks to costly mistakes; precise planning to “flying by the seat of the pants;” family harmony to the family feud - these stories are sure to inspire. Regional Award
Vicky Clarke Prairie Family Business of the Year Award. The chosen family business of this award is selected from the year’s local award winners. A runner-up is selected each year also. This prestigious award is presented each year that the annual conference banquet.

Longevity Award
Heritage Family Business of the Year Award. This award is presented each year to a family business that has been in business for 75 years or more and won any of the other PFBA awards.
