One of the basic processes we go through as individuals is the challenge of differentiating from our family while still retaining a sense of “familiness”. It is a life-long process for all individuals and a particular challenge for those involved in a family business as often the roles of individuals are many and the boundaries blurred.
Emotional cut-off can be seen as a cut off both physically, when the family member physically removes themselves from the family; and psychologically, where they may still live in close proximity but are not engaged with the family.
There are many things to consider regarding the impact this cut-off has on the family system, the business system and the individual’s emotional well-being.
IN THIS WEBINAR YOU WILL LEARN ABOUT:
• Different theories regarding emotional cut-off
• Processes use to manage the cut-off for the individual and the family
• How to bring the individual and family to a place of support for each other
• How to keep one’s individuality in a family while remaining a part of the system
• What the individual can do if resolution is not imminent
• What the family can do if resolution is not imminent
Please join Drs. Greene and Greenleaf for this powerful and important discussion about the emotional nature of family systems.
